Avari   VL™ Overview

®

Avari VL™ is a digital transport-based Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement System (ERCES). This advanced Digital Distributed Antenna System (DAS) provides a reliable, high-performance, and high-availability system designed to support both current and future public safety communication requirements.

The Avari VL solution has a flexible modular architecture – headend units that can accept base station or off-air feeds, an optional digital aggregation or distribution unit, and medium power remote units (VL-RU™). The system supports DMR, TETRA, P25 Phase I and II, GSM-R, LTE, and FirstNet via software configurable upgrades and pluggable RF modules.

Avari   VL™ Series in Action

®

The Avari VL-DMU™ receives radio frequency (RF) signals from donor base stations. The VL-AMU™ is an integrated off-air headend unit that is designed for off-air interfacing to public safety base stations.

Both hosts convert the RF signal into digital packets and then deliver the content to the medium-powered remote units (VL-RU™).

The optional digital distribution unit (VL-DU™) enables an extra level of flexibility in topology and redundancy architectures.

VL-CLK™
  • 4 x 10 Gbps optical interfaces

  • 2 x 1 Gbps Ethernet interfaces

  • Built-in 10 MHz clock reference over fiber

  • Supports redundant clock source

  • Utilizes standard plug and play SFP+ optical transceivers

  • NEMA4 or Non-NEMA4 versions are available

  • FCC, UL compliant

Built-in 10MHz clock reference signal that is used to feed the same clock reference signal to two separate VL-DMU™ / VL-AMU™ units over fiber in a redundant head-end configuration.  In order for automatic fail-over protection to work, the two hosts at the headend locations must be synchronized with the same clock reference.
