The world has never been more connected than at the present time. British Columbia (B.C.) has a progressive and robust Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector with leaders in software, cloud computing, information technology, telecommunications and electronics manufacturing. With multiple technology clusters around the province, such as Vancouver, Victoria and Kelowna, B.C.’s ICT sector is flourishing from fast-growing start-ups and major global companies.

Trade and Invest BC strives to connect B.C.’s ICT companies to potential investors and partners. One way to achieve this is by attending and participating in major trade shows – like Mobile World Congress (MWC). MWC is a key global B2B trade show focused on mobile and wired communications sectors and was held this year from February 28 – March 3, 2022. Held annually in Barcelona, MWC showcases exhibitors and attracts tech buyers and distributors from Europe, Asia and North America. Trade and Invest BC, working along with our partner Tech West Canada, secured space in the Canadian Pavilion at MWC where the B.C. delegation connected with others.

Trade and Invest BC has worked with the B.C. delegation to minimize risk of traveling during COVID-19 times and led a departure webinar with Tech West for registered attendees. Our trade and investment representative in Europe attended and connected with companies in-person during MWC. There were also inquiries at the event from firms interested in B.C. as a potential location to expand into.
